Dear Fourth Grade Families,
The students have been working incredibly hard and should be really proud of their efforts!
Students have been immersed in nonfiction reading. They have been practicing identifying the key details in the text and determining the main idea. This is challenging work as it is difficult to select the 5 or 6 most important details. We have been practicing our ability to write brief summaries, which allows someone who doesn’t know the topic to learn about the main idea.
In math, students took their second unit assessment. They did a great job reviewing and preparing for their test. Once all of the students have completed their test, I will send home the progress reports with individual scores. Our next unit will be multi-digit multiplication and division. Please continue to work with your student if they are not fluent on their basic facts. The next unit will be particularly difficult without the foundation of basic facts.
Have a great weekend!
