Dear Fourth Grade Families,
It has been wonderful having time meet with everyone and getting to talk about all of the wonderful progress the students are making. Thank you for sharing your children with me each day, they are a fantastic group of kids!
In reading this week we have been working on our non-fiction reading skills. We have been working on identifying the text structure that the author has used. We have looked closely at the boxes and bullets or description text structure as well as problem and solution structure. Students have been practicing taking notes and identifying the key details and main idea. We also have been working on summarizing our reading.
In math we have been working on identifying factors and multiples. Students have also learned the difference between prime and composite numbers. We began learning how multiplication problems can show equal groups as well as a comparison. For example a comparison is Sarah has 4 apples and Josh has 3 times as many apples as Sarah.
Have a wonderful weekend!
