Dear Fourth Grade Families,
I was so proud of how well our 4th graders performed in the Veteran’s Day Ceremony. It was a beautiful celebration of all of those who have served our country.
We will be having our unit 2 math assessment, Wednesday, November 15th. Students will need to be able to determine factors and multiples of numbers. They will also need to determine prime and composite numbers and solve multi-step word problems. There will not be math videos unit the week of November 20th, because we are preparing for the assessment. In lieu of math videos, I have assigned practice problem worksheets.
This week in math we have been working on solving multi-step word problems that involve division. I have encouraged the students to underline the information they know, and circle what they need to find out. Students have been working on drawing a model to help determine how to begin solving the problem. They are also expected to label their answer using the proper unit of measurement. I have found that it is very important for students to read through the problem multiple times and sometimes it helps to read it aloud.
Have a great weekend.
