The Pumpkin Run is this Sunday, Oct. 28. Any Burr Runners participating will meet at 12:00 at the entrance to Haddam Elementary School. Wear your Burr Running Club shirts!
Each year, the running club ends the fall season with the Pumpkin Run. This race takes place in downtown Haddam on Sunday, Oct. 28. There are 2 races our runners can participate in that day. There is a half mile fun run that starts at 12:15 and the 5K which starts at 1:00. This is an OPTIONAL activity for any runners who are interested in trying out a 5K. The proceeds benefit Haddam-Killingworth Youth and Family Services. There is a link on the right to the registration page.
The 5K is a hilly course. I will be running the 5K with any Burr Runners that would like to give it a try.
Running Club was back this morning after a brief hiatus. The weather was beautiful; a perfect cool fall morning. I suggest layers for this time of year as it can be chilly first thing but then they quickly warm up. Knee socks make great arm warmers. A change of socks/shoes is still a good idea as the grass is very wet.
We will not have running club this Friday. I will be away. I am running a marathon in western New York! I also have to cancel next Wednesday, Oct. 3 due to a staff meeting
It was a humid and wet start to our fall season. The runners did a great job. They are working on pacing so that they are able to run longer without stopping. Again, I stress the need to bring extra socks and/or shoes. The grass is long and still very wet when we run.
In addition to extra socks and a water bottle, runners may want to bring a towel. Sometimes when we stretch, we get down on the blacktop and a towel can be a nice buffer between the runner and the ground.
Running Club begins tomorrow, September 12th. We will meet at 8:00 on the basketball court. I encourage runners to bring an extra pair of socks and/or extra shoes.
Runners do NOT have to have already returned the purple information sheet to attend tomorrow. Runners do not have to come every day. Come when you can.
Running Club is back for the Fall. We will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 12. I encourage runners to bring an extra pair of socks and/or shoes as the grass is very wet in the morning. Water bottles are an excellent idea as well. While we have had some oven-like weather recently, fall mornings can be cool. Bringing a light jacket or sweatshirt is a good idea.
I am looking forward to another great Running Club season!
We WILL have running club on Wednesday, June 6 !
Running club is for 3rd and 4th graders. We meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:00.
