Hello Families,
Students have been so busy since we met for conferences two weeks ago.
We have concluded our Character Interpretation reading unit, but we will continue to read chapter books to grow as fourth grade readers. I will continue to model and help students form and support interpretations using our interactive read-aloud, There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom. Students should also continue reading plenty of chapter books at home, but may read nonfiction half of the time for homework, which will support our new informational text reading unit.
In science, students modeled a short duration erosion event last week. Look for a picture on my blog page. This week they found evidence for both short and long duration erosion. Students should be able to discuss how energy relates to erosion while correctly applying several scientific terms.
Students have finished their first research project in social studies. The New England geography projects are ready to share. Log in to google classroom using your child’s username and password to see the report. Our next research has already started. Students are reading about non-geographical topics throughout the Northeast.
Have a nice weekend. Thanks to all of our veterans and people that supported our Veterans’ Day assembly.
