Dear Fourth Graders and Families,
I am so excited to be welcoming you to my class. I hope you’ve all been having an excellent summer. This school year promises to be an exciting one.
In case you were wondering about me, here is a bit of information: I came to Regional District 17 in 1993 as a brand new second grade teacher at Killingworth Elementary. I stayed in that position for twelve years, then moved north to Burr in 2005. I have been teaching fourth grade at Burr since then (except for one year of third grade). In the summers, I have been teaching as part of Cheshire’s summer school enrichment program for twenty-four years. Teaching my Awesome Science Challenge class each summer continues my enjoyment of teaching and enables me to design and try new science investigations.
Speaking of summer, I took a short trip to Cleveland, OH, where I visited Lake Erie and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I also visited Newport, RI briefly, where we toured mansions and flew kites on the beautiful coastline. My oldest daughter, Kayleigh (23) is busy working at a veterinarian and enjoying her life as a newlywed with her husband Stephen. I enjoyed lots of nice long bicycle rides with the wonderful weather we’ve been having. My younger kids, Kaiah (10) and Nick (18), my dachshund, Tallulah, and I made good use of our pool with all of the nice weather. Gardening and working around the house filled the rest of my summer.
I can’t wait to see familiar faces and welcome some new ones too!
