Dear Fourth Grade Families,
This has been an exciting week at school. We had a wonderful Veteran’s Day assembly on Tuesday. The 4th graders did an outstanding job honoring the Veteran’s. I was very proud of them as they recognized our nation’s heroes.
This week in reading we finished a mini-research project on weather. Students selected a weather topic as a group to research and worked together to determine which questions they would answer. After researching their question, students presented their new learning to the class. We discussed what a strong presentation would look like; volume, eye contact, teaching voice.
In writing we finished our personal essays and used our skills to write a persuasive essay. The students did a great job thinking of a thesis statement and three reasons to support their claim. Watch out they all have a thesis to change someone’s opinion!
In math we have been learning how to multiply numbers, 1 digit by 2 digit and 2 digit by 2 digit. There are a lot of steps to these skills and it often takes a lot of practice to be successful. Please check my blog for additional resources and practice. At the end of the week we have been using our multiplication skills to solve word problems.
Have a great weekend.
